We’ve discussed before our top 5 travel must-have oils. We’ve talked about the 5 Ways to Shield your family, the Flu Bomb, and using our Defense Salve to keep all the sickies away. But what if you’re home for the long weekend? Take time to relax and rejuvenate! When you’re home by yourself or with the kiddos, being off your regular schedule can throw a wrench in everyone’s moods and behaviors, but taking some “me time” can be just what the doctor ordered. Give these recipes a try and tell us what you think below!
10 drops Essential Oil or Blend (of your choice)
10 tsp (50 mL) Almond Carrier Oil
2 oz Ground Almonds
.2 oz Pink Clay (optional)
5 tsp (25mL) Cider Vinegar
5 tsp (25 mL) Spring Water
To Make: Combine the oils, vinegar, and water. Place all dry ingredients into a blender (or blend by hand), mixing well. Slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients until blended into a smooth paste. Store in a sealed jar in the fridge up to 3 months.
To Use: Apply approximately 2 teaspoons of paste onto the face (avoid eyes). Gently remove with your fingers in a small circular motions. Remove any remaining residue with a hot wet cotton cloth. After cleansing, apply a hydrolat or floral water (such as Rose Water) to the face.
Relaxing Bath Blend
2 drops Ylang Ylang
3 drops Wild Orange
1 drop Lavender
1 drop Roman Chamomile
2 tsp (10mL) Carrier Oil (Almond, Coconut)
To Make: Combine essential oils then add to carrier oil. (makes enough for 2 baths)
To Use: Add 1 tsp of Relaxing Bath Blend to bath water and swirl water with hand to disperse. Bathe and relax.
Relaxing Neck Wrap
1 Cotton Sock (or cotton fabric sewn as desired)
3 cups Flaxseed or Rice
2-3 drops Essential Oil
To Make: Fill sock with flaxseed/rice and knot or sew the end closed.
To Use: Heat in microwave for 1-2 minutes. Add 2-3 drops of desired essential oil. Place on neck and enjoy.
