You asked and we delivered! After an amazing number of requests, we have sourced the best quality, 100% Pure Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil and have, yet again, made it affordably available.
Copaiba (Copaifera Officinalis) is a steam distilled resin. It is a middle-base note oil with a sweetly warm, woodsy aroma. With high levels of beta-carophyllene, Copaiba has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and is often used as a topical analgesic. In addition, this unique oil is often used as an “amplifier” or “magnifier” to enhance the oils it is combined with.
Copaiba can be used to treat intestinal infections and has been known to ease vomiting and diarrhea. It is also a great decongestant and can help treat colds, coughs, chills, and other respiratory issues.
So who can use it? Copaiba is considered to be a fairly safe oil, even for dogs and *gasp* cats! Dilute for young children and those with sensitive skin. As always use cautiously, and test a small patch of skin before extensive use. Allergies to Copaiba are considered rare, but if adverse reactions occur, stop use immediately. *NOT RECOMMENDED for use when pregnant.
- Allergies: Add a drop of Copaiba in your diffuser with several drops of LLP Blend for bolstered relief.
- Wart/Mole Removal: With a q-tip, rub a drop of Copaiba onto the wart or mole 1-2 times daily until gone.
- Sleep: Diffuse 2 drops Copaiba, 3 drops Lavender at bedtime and into the night.
- Immunity Booster: In 10ml roll on bottle, add 5 drops each: Shield, Frankincense, Copaiba, and Oregano, and top with favorite carrier oil (Sweet Almond or Coconut)
- Skin Conditions: apply directly to acne, and diluted (in lotion or carrier oil) to stretch marks, sagging skin, and varicose veins for possible relief and tighter skin.
- Happy Stomache Tea: In 8oz warm water, stir in 1 tsp honey and 1-2 drops Copaiba.
- Pain Massage Oil: In a 1-oz glass bottle, add 15 drops Copaiba and 2 drops Clove, top off with your favorite carrier oil. Apply to sore joints, sciatic nerve, etc. as need.
- Dog Pain/Terminal Conditions: 1-3 drops each Copaiba and Frankincense (depending on size) twice daily.
As the old saying goes, right?
You may be thinking that I am referring to working out. In most cases you would be correct, but not this time. This time I am talking about yard work. I have been pulling weeds and getting our yard ready for a swings for my kids. We had to dig out a section and build up another section in order to make it all level. My hamstrings have been on fire for two days now and shoulders/arms feel like limp noodles. Please tell me that I am not the only one who feels this way after a few hours of pulling weeds and yard work!
Or maybe you have a daily struggle of pain caused by inflammation or arthritis. But what do you do once the pain has set in? Do you reach for the Ibuprofen? Maybe your go to remedy is a heating pack? Copaiba essential oil can help reduce pain and inflammation so that you are able to continue your journey with less discomfort. Copaiba comes from the Copaifera tree, most commonly found in the rainforest. This powerful oil can be diffused, inhaled directly, or applied topically on location with your preferred carrier oil. My favorite is this cream, made with Copaiba essential oil. It is super easy and so powerful!
DIY Pain Cream
½ cup of coconut oil (in the more solid form is preferred)
15 drops of Copaiba essential oil
15 drops of Amend essential oil
Using a hand mixer, beat until it is a fluffy consistency (approx. 2 min.). Add the Copaiba and Amend and hand mix to ensure that that the oils don’t splatter. Then mix with hand mixer for another 30 seconds. Your pain cream is ready to use! You can transfer your cream to a small glass mason jar or old cosmetic jar for easier use and storage.
I’ve tried the gimmicks. It seems that no matter what I try, unless it’s an ultra-strength steroid ointment, my hands are always breaking out in eczema or peeling and cracking. And don’t get me started on my feet-yikes! If you’re in the same boat, check out what I have found to work, and maybe it’ll be just what you’ve been looking for!
I come back to it time and time again when making new recipes-the Spark Naturals Base Salve. Why do I love it? 1-I don’t have to buy a million different bulk ingredients to only use a fraction of them, and 2-it’s such a convenient size and so easy to work with! I have made about 10 different salves with it, and today is no exception. Lemon, Frankincense and Myrrh have been used in healing for generations, and Copaiba is great for pain and enhancing the properties of oils it is combined with, which makes them the perfect oils for this DIY salve.
First, double boiler fashion, set the open base salve in a small amount of simmering water. You don’t want the temperature too high-just enough to liquify the salve and keep all of it’s healing properties in tact.
Next, carefully remove the jar and add the essential oils. In this case: 15 drops each Frankincense and Myrrh, 10 drops Copaiba, and 5 drops Lemon.
Lastly, set aside to cool. When ready, apply 1-2 times a day (typically after your morning shower and right before bed). Rub into feet first, and rub excess into hands.
That’s it! If used consistently, hopefully you’ll start feeling relief within a few days. Let us know if you’ve tried this or anything similar-we want to hear all about it!
