New Year = New Pain: Eucalyptus Relief

The beginning of the year makes me think of two things: New Year’s Resolutions and Cold/Flu Season! If you fall into the category of “Starting out the New Year with a BANG!!!” then that means that resolutions are formed and action is in full force! This also means that you are probably feeling all the hard work, all over your body! Turn to a natural solution for those muscle aches and pains.

eucalyptusIf you fall into the category of “I just coughed so hard that I think I lost a lung” then, oh you poor thing!!! I hate coughing all night and not being able to sleep, but even worse than that is that I hate listening to my kids cough all night and not be able to sleep. If you are like me, then you don’t like giving your children more medicine than absolutely necessary. There are so many words that I can’t even pronounce on the label and why on Earth are there maximum dosage restrictions???? Turn to a natural solution that you can use as much as needed with no side effects. As soon as you open Eucalyptus Essential Oil you will either immediately think of a very common chest rub for coughs and colds or you will be drawn to the sweet relief of that creamy, muscle pain relieving substances that can bring you to tears if it gets too close to your eyes. That is because Eucalyptus is found in both of these store bought items.

When applied directly to the muscles, Eucalyptus can aid in relief and repair of sore muscles. Use your Eucalyptus on the bottom of the feet (then put socks on) or on the chest to break up mucus and relieve that naggy cough. Eucalyptus is also amazing in the diffuser during the day and especially at night to help aide in rebuilding a healthy respiratory system.

The Magical Properties of Birch Oil

As a child, freedom came in all shapes and sizes. My bike, for example, carried me for miles. My best friend had me in laughing fits constantly. But the most captivating, the most breathtaking outlet of freedom I ever experienced was spending afternoons meandering through the trees in a thick, lush forest, taking in the beauty of life. There was something about those trees that struck me. A deep, unspoken wisdom in their existence that recharged my mental batteries and enthralls me to this day.

Myths, legends, and novellas throughout history expand on the majesty and healing properties of trees. For example, Birch, a flexibly spry sprouter (Similar in appearance to an Aspen) is one of the 22 sacred trees in the Celtic Ogham, and is said to be magical and profoundly healing. Legend tells that Birch trees were the first signs of life after the ice age, preceding any other life on earth.

Yes, though entertaining the legends is fun and exciting, it probably won’t cure cancer or, to be relevant, COVID-19. However, Birch does have benefits that boost the body and mind and has been used for hundreds of generations. Through a very delicate and exact process, the bark of the tree is crushed, steamed, and distilled, which produces an oil that smells of wintergreen and induces healing in areas of pain on the body internally and externally.

Birch Oil is often difficult to obtain due to seasonal harvesting and conservation issues. Our process at Spark Naturals is no less tedious. Our lab tested, 100% pure Birch Essential Oil cuts no corners. We pride ourselves in how we source the best products for our customers. It is important to us that our Birch Oil be of the highest quality and therefore more efficacious.

Our Birch Oil is loaded with Methyl Salicylate, which produces cortisone-quality healing that reduces inflammation and muscle fatigue. Methyl Salicylate is analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-spasmodic, rubefacient and anti-rheumatic. All this spells sweet, soothing properties for muscle and joint pain. We hear of countless stories and experiences where Birch Essential Oil has positively impacted people.  One of those experiences is articulated well in Curly’s article, Heel Spurs and Plantar Fasciitis

Here at Spark, the history, extraction, and impact these oils have on people is critical to us. We want nothing more than to improve the lives of anyone and everyone. Our driving force, our motivation each and every day is in pursuit of a positive impact on the world, and we will continue to improve and grow to widen our scope and reach.

If you use Birch and want to further your experience with it, we highly recommend using it in a blend. Whether you diffuse your bedroom before sleep, at the kitchen table in the morning, or in the family room awaiting your guests, this blend will refresh the body and mind whether you use a diffuser or apply it topically. To make things even better, it will ease your pain, even as severe as arthritis.

Top 10 diffuser blend

It’s the weekend! Why not get the day started off right. The following blends are meant to be used in a cold-air diffuser. The type of diffusers I use require a small amount of water to which the oils are added. I generally use 6-8 drops of oil per “batch.” If you don’t have one of the components, you can still try the recipe without it. Enjoy these and maybe share your favorites with us.

This is a much-loved combo, and for good reason! It’s perfect to increase alertness, or when you need a quick pick-me-up:

I tend to be a very high-energy person. The good part of that? I get a lot done. The bad part? I have a hard time settling down sometimes…
I adore this blend for the evenings when I’m trying to slow my brain down, and I also like to diffuse it in the bedroom as I fall asleep: 1 drop Bergamot
1 drop Lavender

Shield: Protective Blend

These days protecting yourself and your family is more important than ever. Spark Naturals is pleased to present this ancient blend. This potent blend only contains the essential oils and no carrier oil, so be sure to dilute before topical use.

“If you use oils, this one is a must have for your arsenal. This shield essential oil blend is meant to keep you healthy even when cold and flu germs are all around you.….. I’ve used it diluted in some coconut oil with a few drops of the shield essential oil blend and dabbed it on my neck and arms. No reaction of any kind.”-Amanda M.

“We love Shield! The blend smells amazing and is great for so many things. I love to diffuse it during the fall and winter months. It’s also good for sore throats, colds, and illness-prevention. Excellent choice for your natural medicine cabinet.”-Jessica
