What is a Salve?
A salve is essentially something that you apply topically to heal and care for the skin. It is similar to a balm, ointment, or cream. Salves are made with oils and waxes to create a semi-solid substance. A few examples of oils that can be used are olive, coconut, and sweet almond.
Beeswax is most commonly used to bind everything together. Beeswax is easy to find, easy to prepare, and can even be purchased as pastilles (little beads) for easy measuring.
