5 Essential Oils for Allergy Relief

Allergies – perhaps our least favorite part of the spring season! Many of us suffer from environmental & seasonal allergies and irritants. Stuffed sinuses, rashes, and other uncomfortable symptoms can nag for weeks. There are more over-the-counter solutions than we can possibly list, but what about an all-natural alternative? Solving your allergies with mother natures own remedy is a great way to your allergies all year long.

  1. Lavender Essential Oil

sn_eo15_lavenderLavender Essential Oil’s natural properties contain anti-inflammatory/anti-histamine agents, as well as calming properties to help the body relax. Topically it also can aid with irritation, rashes, and other skin conditions. Aromatically it also can aid with respiratory allergies and irritations.

How to use it?
Add a few drops to a carrier oil such as coconut oil or almond oil (read more about carrier oils in our article HERE), and topically apply directly to the area in need. alternatively, apply a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil directly to the wrists, temples, and forehead.

  1. Peppermint Essential Oil

sn_eo15_pprmintPeppermint Essential Oil is naturally soothing, cooling, and anti-inflammatory. It has a strong aroma that aids in clearing respiratory and sinus blockage, as well as an effective agent in promoting digestive health.

How to use it?
Dilute Peppermint Oil with a carrier oil (read more about diluting oils in our article HERE) and add 1-2 drops of the Peppermint Oil. Apply to chest, forehead or cheeks for respiratory relief. For digestive relief, add 1-2 drops to a glass of water and drink before meals.

  1. Eucalyptus Essential Oil

sn_eo15_eucalyptusEucalyptus Essential Oil is extracted from the eucalyptus leaf, and offers aid for asthma, respiratory support, as well as easing many seasonal allergies. Use this oil with care, as it has a very strong natural scent and should be used more sparingly.

How to use it?
Add 2-4 drops to your Diffuser, and enjoy the scent. be sure to close your eyes, and stand near the diffuser and take a few deep breaths. If you prefer, you also can add to steaming hot water, and inhale the steam as well.

  1. Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

How to use it?
Typically, dilute 2-4 drops of Roman Chamomile in a carrier oil (coconut oil, almond oil, etc.) and apply to the skin. For itch relief, apply directly to the effected area, but start with a small amount to assess toleration.

  1. Lemon Essential Oil

sn_eo15_lemonLemon Essential Oil is extremely useful, as it can be used topically or be ingested, and can help clear congestion as it contains anti-histamine, cooling, and anti-inflammatory properties. It also can relieve excess mucus and increase blood flow in the body.

How to use it?
Lemon Essential Oil is great on its own, but when used together with Lavender and Peppermint, it is a powerhouse – Add equal parts Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint to your diffuser and let it fill your home. This combination can also be applied directly to the forehead, behind ears, and onto the chest for relief. If you have sensitive skin, dilute with a carrier oil, and for ingestion, add simply a few drops of Lemon to a glass of water and drink.

  1. I have read how oil was used long before the pharmacies came about , Including Collidial Silver , I would buy more if I only knew “HOW” to use each one or a mixture of them. Do you have a printed instruction booklet on how to use the oils, Having them an not knowing their use is disturbing. Thank you.

With the great access to the internet, smartphone, and tablets we have elected to publish all recipes, tips, tricks, and uses online.
